Clara Dendtler is a young equestrian competing in the hunter/jumper world. Clara and her mare, Quinn, compete at Wills Park and Chatt Hills, but hope to show at Tryon and the Kentucky Horse Park soon. Quinn is a very special chestnut thoroughbred mare. She was trained at the track but never raced. Quinn is very sweet, and thinks every horse she meets is her best friend. Sadly, Quinn had to have colic surgery about a year ago and had to stay in the hospital extra long due to complications. She is now fully healed and back in the show ring with Clara! Quinn was also recently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (a type of cancer) in her third eyelid in early 2019. While removing her third eyelid, it was found that she has a rare type of cancer called adenocarcinoma which is unheard of in the third eyelid. Despite going through chemotherapy, Quinn is very happy and upbeat and continues to show with Clara in the Pre-Children Hunters and Equitation. Clara's short term goal is working on her lead changes with Quinn and to place at TIP Championships, and her long term goal is to continue to ride in college and hopefully continue riding Quinn. Clara has had a successful show career on many circuits. In IEA, she won champion in her class at 2018 regionals and got third at Zones that same year. While Quinn was in recovery from surgery, she showed a half-arabian mare named Disney on the Arabian circuit and got Top 5 in all their classes at Region 12 Regionals, and qualified for Sport Horse Nationals. You can follow Clara on Instagram using @clara_equestrian. Clara says she loves being a Bits and Breeches ambassador because she "love sthe blog posts and repping my B&B merch whenever I go!" Clara says her favorite post is the “25 under 25” gift guide. We love having you on the team, Clara!
